Pickles

My husband and I wanted some where quick to eat before the ANZAC Cenotaph ceremonies began on the 25th this month. A small space but that's to be expected in many parts of Older London. Clean and airy, old and quaint. We waited patiently for a few minutes before realising the two men preparing food were not going to serve us, We looked around and caught the eye of a third person wiping down tables, made eye contact and smiled, he did take our Order. He was polite, quick and the food was lovely, Full English Breakfast nice! A calm atmosphere, just minutes from Westminster. Well priced too!

Pickles is a gem, with a family-run feel rather than a being slick modern franchise. It serves good and inexpensive food in a classical tea shop environment. The staff are genuinely hospitable, but don't expect deference! As a place to relax and refresh in the very centre of Westminster, perhaps before or after a challenging meeting, Pickles is unique.

Very rude service. I can't necessarily say anything negative about their food -- what they offer is very standard for a sandwich shop . . . nothing special but certainly not terrible. But the men who work there have been very rude to me on a number of occasions, and with several other sandwich shops in the area, I have made the decision never to return to Pickles again.
