Hi!
I am planning to move in with my boyfriend this summer but can't bear to give up the feeling of being safe in the country and going on lovely walks with greenery all round.

Problem is my boyfriend has to work in the city. Are there any nice areas in greater London or outside that are easily commutable (say 45mins) where i can work and live near green stuff and he can still get to work??

Please help me if you can.

Thank you so much.

Hi Laura,

I know how you feel!

A really nice area is Amersham at the very far end of the Met line, it's a really nice green area... very desirable and so quite pricey though.

It's a bit of a treck into central London but at least you don't have to change much - the Met line will take you right into central London.

It's probably about 45 - 60 mins to Baker Street from Amersham.

Alternatively there are lots of areas to the west and north west of London that are commutable by overland train. This makes the commute a lot quicker. Even Reading is only about 40 mins from London by rail into Paddington so that maybe an option?

Hope that helps. Happy

Hi Laura,

Here's Amersham on the tube so that you can get your bearings:
Amersham Tube Map

Just click on the map and drag it to the left to see where Amersham tube is in relation to the rest of the network.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Thank you so much for your help.

It's nice to know that other people feel like me and really appreciate nature (for the want of sounding not too corny!).

I've looked up Amersham and it looks lovely - trouble is i think it's a bit too far away from the (financial) city than we can manage. Also Paddington is a little too far away and commuting to Waterloo, King's Cross, Fenchurch St, Liverpool St or Moorgate would be easier. Are there any "greenish" Happy areas 35 mins away from these stations that anyone knows about?

Thanks again for you help.

Hi Laura,

I am looking for the same as you. I am going to work in the financial centre and I would like to stay close to it but also enjoy green areas and safety. I will keep you updated with my search. Really apreciated if you could do the same Happy.

All the best,
John

I live near a stop on the Waterloo to Southampton line - Winchfield. It's probably a bit too far out for you, but it's beautifully green around here!

Woking & Guildford are a bit nearer, and bigger, but still have green areas.

:) Hi John

Could you also let me know of some good places that you might come across...share the same desire - greenery away from hustle bustle around say 30-40 mts max to Liverpool street...

Laura: happy hunting and am also doing the same as of now!
