Join LTRC today and you could be mixing with the leading names in cinema at the 27th Awards of the Film Critics’ Circle at the Dorchester Hotel on Thursday 8th February 2007.

As always the night promises to be a glamorous occasion which in the past has been attended by celebrities including Nicole Kidman, Sir Michael Caine, Hugh Grant, Cate Blanchett, Martin Scorsese, Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey and Lord Attenborough. The evening begins with a champagne reception at 7pm followed by the Awards Ceremony which this year will be hosted by Mariella Frostrup and Paul Gambaccini. You will also enjoy a sumptuous four-course meal and dancing courtesy of Radio One DJ Mary Anne Hobbs until 1.30am.

As many have expected, Miramax's acclaimed British royal family drama " The Queen" became the most-nominated feature for the event, scoring down seven nods that included top honor Best Film of the Year alongside four other lauded features namely " United 93 ", " Little Miss Sunshine ", " The Departed " and " Volver "

Meanwhile, its lead star Helen Mirren satisfyingly landed double nominations in Best Actress and Best British Actress categories which another highly regarded thespian Judi Dench also scored through her performance in " [/i]Notes on a Scandal[/i] ."

Trailed behind " [/i]The Queen[/i] " was " [/i]The Last King of Scotland[/i] " as the Fox Searchlight release wonderfully garnered five nods, two of them were for its stars Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy (a regular attendee of the awards with wife Ann-Marie Duff ) who races against Sacha Baron Cohen of " Borat " and Timothy Spall of " Pierrepont " for Best British Actor of the Year title.
