We were excited as Livebait looked lovely from the outside. We received a nice booth table and all seemed positive. Eating from a set menu, the choice was pleasing, however when the waitress finally came to take our orders (20 mins later), we ordered fish and chips, and were then informed that actually we had been given the wrong set menu. When we got the new menu, it contained less options.

I ordered Red mullet with new potatoes, while my partner ordered moules et frite. The mullet came with no potatoes and lacked any taste. I am pretty sure it had been frozen. Moules came with no frites! Apparently the gas had broken. Surely, then, they would bring food later.

We were one of three couples of returned at least one dish from the table. After the problems they gave us complimentary desserts, which was good of them.

I booked a party of 11 adults and 3 children for lunch on 19 October 2008 to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. A wonderful experience lasting over 3 hours!! Thank you to all the staff for making the day so enjoyable. The food cannot be faulted, the staff excellent - nothing was too much trouble for them. We will remember it for a long time and look forward to the next excuse to party. Again, a very big Thank You to everyone.

Overall a very nice meal, well cooked and presented.
One minor complaint. Thought the Fish Pie could have been rather more interesting, mine only Salmon plus a single Muscle. In reality might as well have listed as a Salmon Pie. Nevertheless it still tasted very good.

I expected more! Fish can be really fantastic or it can be bland. They manage the latter.
