Just a quick one - I ordered a take away from here, they said 45 mins delivery - After an hour I called up and they rudely exclaimed they hadnt even started cooking. I asked for a refund and was rejected. Awful. If it ever turns up ill re-post with comment on the food.... im not holding my breath! :-*

A Putney stalwart. That's all it is - it's survived for years through what custom, I don't know. I've ignored it for a long time, but ate there recently for the second time in my life, and want to make clear my feelings.
Before we go on, know that I have nothing good to say, and I wish for nothing more than someone to come in and buy this place out.
Compared to Bayee House on Upper Richmond Road - which the owner sold at the height of the recession for big money - I was there when he discussed with someone the number of offers and opportunities he had - this place just doesn't cut it.
The staff are untrained, dismissive and pushy. The lady who assisted, bless her, had a piercing and irritating voice. The gentlemen seemed to be a gangly teen pressganged into service.
The food was amusing, in the most unforgiveable way. The takeaway down the road - "Wok and Roe" (Elvis fans will get this joke) - does a better job.
I had nasi lemak, and it was a shameful vaporous mimicry of the real thing. Everything else at the table seemed to be deep fried, or over-salted, or syrupy sweet.
I can see Clive James enjoying a meal here. People who've never had decent asian food.
The thing is, malaysian food is incredible - diverse and delicious. This place truly reminds me of takeaways on Tonbridge high street when I was young - but it charges London central prices.
Rasa Penang, I shall be unstinting. The experience I had was terrible, atrocious, and I shall not forget it.
London nowadays has so many options for food, and the quality and diversity are increasing all the time, and the prices are reasonable - so why pay for this under-par nonsense? Royal China, Thalad Thai, Cho San, "Bugis Street" in Gloucester Road - so many excellent options.
As a last thought, I've been viewing the reviews, and note with amusement the lack of reviewers outside SW15 - people do not come to Putney to visit!
But check out Royal China - people come from
