Melanie Italian Restaurant

Just been to the Melanie on Sunday afternoon. Had to wait one and a half hours for our food (seriously - we times them). Food was OK - though pizzas were cold - presumably they'd been sat waiting for the rest of the food. The waiters were particularly inattentive and there seemed to be an atmosphere between the waiters and the kitchen stafff and also between the waiters themslves. Tables around us were commenting on how bad the service was - the place was less than half full as well. I recommend you avoid this restaurant - there are so many others to choose from (Med Kitchen, also on Old Compton Street is infinitely better).

Recently visited here for the first time on a recommendation from a friend. I found the food enjoyable and well cooked,the staff were very friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the atmosphere was warm and bustling! A fun place to eat if you don't like deathly silence while dining!!

Found this lovely little Italian restaurant looking for somewhere to have lunch before a matinee at a theatre nearby. The food was very good value for money & the quick service meant we didn't have to rush our meal. I would definately go there again & would recommend to anyone

A thoroughly enjoyable meal for two, Thursday 29th Oct.2009. Came across the place by accident, and very pleased we did. Would recommend to anyone looking for tasty Italian food in Theatreland.

Been going there for twenty years. First time was beef in Barolo - still remember it, and they still do it. Eating there is always great. If in this part of London, have to have a good reason for going anywhere else. Never been disappointed. Great range of choice, reasonably priced, and very quick and efficient. If pre-show, get there early. It is apt to be full by a little after 6.00 p.m.

My husband and i chanced on this restuarant while in london for the day. We had booked an evening matinee and had tome to kill so had a walk round and came upon melanie's. We are so glad we did as the service was excellent the food lovely, very clean and welcoming. We will definetly be going again very soon. VERY RECCOMENDED!!!!!!!

We booked early table for pre-show meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and hot. The only fault was - we ordered side salads to be served with our main course but we never received them. Did not bother to ask for them as the meals were quite generous and we decided we did not need the salad. They were not on the bill either so we had no reason to complain. Would definitely book again.

The first time I visited Melanie was in 2004. Me and a friend just stumbled on this wonderful restaurant. Since then I have been there everytime I visit UK. Tradition - yes, and I will certainly return everytime I go to London. The food is superb and the service is wonderful. All friends I have brought also love this Italian paradise.

Absolutely brilliant! Good, varied menu, lovely accomodating staff and very reasonable. I used to live in Old Compton Street and know a lot of the local eateries and this was by far my favourite. I came here regularly and was known by the staff any always got a free schnapps or something! Whenever I had visitors, I took them there and they loved it too. Have booked for new years eve!

We were a party of five on a night out at the theatre, so our time was restricted. The food was good and reasonably priced, servicewas prompt and the staff very welcoming. We would go again.

Melanie is a lovely bustling Italian restaurant that gives an excellent service, whilst being based in Central London. The food is always reliably good and reasonably priced.
