The Barbican Music Library has the biggest collection of CDs of any UK library, which may not sound impressive now that music is available at the click of a mouse thanks to the internet, but it's still very rewarding to browse racks and racks of album covers.
Membership is only open to those who live or work in the City, but anyone can flick through heaps of music magazines, academic journals and books on the history of music.
There are also listening booths and a piano for you to practice on.
