National Paralympic Day featuring the Mayor of London’s Liberty Festival

Celebrate the first anniversary of the London 2012 Paralympic Games on Saturday 7 September with the very best of disability sports and arts at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

National Paralympic Day featuring the Mayor of London’s Liberty Festival is a free family day out with a host of activities in the Park from 12noon until 8pm.

Come and try out Paralympic sports, Q&A and autograph sessions with Paralympic medalists and the chance to watch ParalympicsGB stars take on the world in the Copper Box Arena, the newly re-opened London 2012 venue. Here you will be able to enjoy Boccia, Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball, all for free (tickets required).

Also in the Park, the Liberty Festival will present an exciting programme of Deaf and disability arts including street theatre, dance, live music, film, installations and children’s activities. Prepare to be amazed by ‘The Limbless Knight’ an inspiring performance from Graeae whose Artistic Director also artistically co-directed the Paralympic Opening Ceremony. There’ll also be a special appearance from singer Andrea Begley, winner of BBC’s ‘The Voice’.

The event aims to be fully accessible and includes captioning and British Sign Language interpretation throughout the Music Stage performances, roving British Sign Language interpreters, audio description tours during the afternoon plus wheelchair access across the site.
