The Conservatoire and The Nest Collective join forces to bring quality folk music to SE London
The Conservatoire in Blackheath has teamed up with highly regarded folk music club The Nest Collective to bring an exciting line-up of folk acts to South East Londoners between February and April this year. Folk bands Firefly Burning, Perunika Trio and Eska will be entertaining folk fans and those who wish to explore this popular genre in the Conservatoire’s stunning Victorian Life drawing studio, one of the last of its kind in the country. The Nest Collective, headed up by Mercury nominated folk artist Sam Lee, currently host a variety of events in North and East London but this is the first time that they will host an event in Blackheath.
Possessing one of the best and most memorable voices in the UK right now, ESKA weaves together diverse musical elements - hints of folk, soul, psychedelica and electronica can all be heard on 'Gatekeeper' - and pairs them with stirring lyrics, born from burning passion, which traverse scenes from church stories and rituals. With this debut release, ESKA has created something pure and timeless which echoes past traditions while at the same time managing to surprise with its stunning originality.
