Note Noire Quartet combine the musical worlds of the Mediterranean and Central Europe, taking inspiration from the ensembles of Django Reinhardt. From the strings of Markos Vamvakaris’s rebetiko bouzouki to the gypsy violins of the orchestra of Sandor Lakatos and the compositions of Goran Bregovic, the quartet mix traditional Hungarian and Romanian themes with modern styles and jazz improvisation.
