Design Wallah, part of Alchemy Festival 2014 at Southbank Centre
Thursday 15 – Monday 26 May 2014

Southbank Centre are celebrating the 5th year of Alchemy, the annual festival showcasing the best of music, dance, literature, comedy, fashion, art and design from the UK and South Asia. Discover international masters alongside emerging talent; folk alongside up-and-coming youth culture; the best in South Asian cuisine and the latest fashions from Pakistan and India. Consider how skills and ideas travel down generations, across continents and different cultures collaborate.

‘Design Wallah’ is Alchemy's new showcase of South Asian contemporary design, curated by Shake the Dust for Southbank Centre. Celebrating newly emerging and established designers, the curated space in Festival Village- under Queen Elizabeth Hall- includes a pop-up shop featuring a wide selection of jewellery, interiors, artwork, stationery and gifts for sale.

Designers taking part include Natasha Kumar, Kangan Arora, Safomasi and Lokesh Karekar.

Also featured in the pop-up shop and design showcase are Sroop Sunar, Tanvi Kant, Josie Shenoy, Meera Sethi, Piccadelhi, Joli India, Stitch by Stitch, Plum Chutney and many more. In addition to this there will also be a chance at weekends to exercise your own creativity with a series of kite & printmaking workshops. To check availability and to book your place check online at southbankcentre.co.uk

Design Wallah takes places in Southbank Centre’s Festival Village- under Queen Elizabeth Hall- alongside the return of Roti Chai’s Chaat Shack and Bar. They will serve a range of street food and a selection of Indian-inspired spiced cocktails.
