Theo Jackson

8:30pm Singer-pianist Theo Jackson has gained a reputation on the scene as a composer and performer of strikingly original songs combined with a captivating stage presence. His signing to publisher Splash Point (who have also promoted the likes of Liane Carroll and Ian Shaw) demonstrates just how talented he is. Recently Theo was recognised for setting lyrics to the late bassist Scott Lafaro’s composition, “Gloria’s Step,” attracting the attention of US based label Concord Jazz, and he has performed at a number of major festivals including Cheltenham and Rye. His 2012 album "Jericho" was also received with positive reviews, including All About Jazz who said the album "heads towards a…fascinating musical destination". Theo’s various projects include an ongoing duo collaboration with award-winning saxophonist Nathaniel Facey (Empirical), as well as an upcoming live recording of the duo as well as his quartet of Leo Richardson, sax; Alex Davis, bass and Dave Hamblett, drums, who will join him at the 606 tonight.
