8:00pm For over a decade now Quentin has established an enviable reputation as a lyrical and melodic trumpet player with a powerful sound and approach. His first album released in 2007 "If Not Now, Then When?" received critical acclaim with Jazzwise calling it an "intensely impressive debut", while the Guardian called Quentin a "young brass virtuoso". He has continued to forge an impressive reputation on the UK scene via projects including the “QC/BA Quartet” (alongside another 606 Club regular Brandon Allen), with the band touring internationally and releasing the brilliant album 'What's It Gonna Be?'. He also includes the likes of Jeff Beck, Jason Rebello, Basement Jaxx, Omar, Prince and Roy Ayres on a lengthy and impressive cv. The band tonight is, not surprisingly, comprised of top class musicians, including the award-winning Andrew McCormack on piano and Tom Farmer on bass.

“A trumpeter whose style is a sizzling update of the Morgan/Hubbard approach" MOJO Magazine

9:45pm A rising star of the UK Jazz scene guitarist David Preston performs throughout the UK leading his own projects as well as collaborating with British jazz legends such as Guy Barker, Jim Mullen, Peter King, Jacqui Dankworth, Empirical and Tim Whitehead. He also includes work with international stars Curtis Stigers and Melody Gardot and made quite an impression performing on, co-writing and co-producing singer Ian Shaw’s album “Lifejacket”. He’s played at festivals and venues including the Palladium, Queen Elizabeth Hall and L’Olympia in Paris and has appeared on BBC Radios 1 & 3 (an eclectic mix!). Also featured this evening will be a rhythm section featuring two of the most exciting young players on the scene, Kevin Glasgow on bass and Laurie Lowe on drums, along with their Special Guest, the award-winning flautist Gareth Lockrane. The band performs a great mix of jazz standards and excellent original material and is well worth catching.

“If Preston's name isn't familiar to you, it should be” Jazz Times;
“Young guitar heavyweight” TimeOut;
“Lockrane’s flute work is exceptional, combining a relaxed fluidity with an acute adventurousness…...very special indeed” Jazzwise
