"It has totally transformed the way I use my own body in performance."

This intensive weeklong workshop illuminates our bodies’ ability to tell stories. Inspired by the teachings of Jacques Lecoq and European theatre making practice, you are invited to investigate how to make theatre that moves.

We will look at the skills of the performer, techniques of creation, and approaches to devising; covering character, ensemble, physicality, rhythm, choreography, sound, scale, perspective and space. Through our connection to other performers, we will create stories and relationships that ultimately lead to theatre that moves, viscerally and physically. It will be a demanding week of training and exploration, delivered in a playful atmosphere of practical enquiry.

"The Body knows things of which the mind is ignorant" — Jacques Lecoq

The week will be led by Tid, Director of The Theatre Making Place, who has made acclaimed work as a performer, writer, director and teacher. He was a director at Bristol Old Vic, Artistic Director of Fairground, Clore Theatre Fellow and Artistic Director of Lakeside Theatre.

"Tid’s direction is spot on, sawn-off and authentic" — Venue Magazine
