From Tuesday 1st July 2014, the streets of Greenwich and Blackheath will be filled with excitement and crowds of spectators when they become home to a unique public arts exhibition, Corelli’s Creature Carnival. This spectacular event hosted by Corelli College’s Arts College is set to animate the area with a display and trail of colourful creature sculptures.

This free event, which launches at the Cutty Sark and lasts for four weeks, is one of the most exciting initiatives to hit South East London in years. The exhibition features 32 sculptures of five well known and loved UK creatures. Sculptures of an owl, cow, frog, pig and shire horse will be displayed in prominent locations throughout Greenwich town centre.

Visitors of all ages will be able to admire these unique sculptures designed by established community artists, designers and students, take photos and share their experiences with others through the interactive website.

This project aims to raise awareness about issues surrounding the creatures, and there will be an opportunity to own one of these unique sculptures when they go on sale in an auction that will raise funds for animal welfare charities in the autumn.

The sculptures will be available to view at the following well known locations and businesses in Greenwich: Cutty Sark, Greenwich market, Greenwich Theatre, Lush Designs, Historical London, Chock-a-bloc, Biscuit, Made in Greenwich, Hola Paella, Greenwich Baby, Bullfrog, Waterstone’s, Ourshop, Jamie’s Italian, Joy, Waitrose and the Post Office.

All of the sculpture locations are pinpointed on a specially produced trail map that will be available from most shops and businesses in Greenwich, the surrounding areas and boroughs. To download the trail map or for further information, please visit the events website.
