After twenty six years of living, eating and breathing music, British born producer/DJ and live instrumentalist Richard O’ Connor has managed to handcraft a CV that sees him truly stand out from the crowd. After being introduced to a piano at the tender age of seven, O’Connor began an obsessive relationship with music that has seen him go from endless practice in his bedroom to become both the session and live bassist for recording artists and household names, Plan B and Maverick Sabre. Never one to try to pigeonhole himself, as O’Connor also identified with his Countries infatuation with jungle and drum & bass during these years, he began to explore new ways to create and manipulate music through his own productions and live DJ Sets. O’Connor takes to the studio a plethora of influences, creating a truly original sound.

Despite only DJing for three years, O’Connor’s intense knowledge and wide scope of styles has landed him as tour DJ for both Maverick Sabre and Ms. Dynamite, as well as a residency slot at the Supperclub London. Inspired by both this and his long standing career as a performer, he has taken his production to exciting new places. O’Connor’s ability and drive earned him a place on the 2012 AKG Scholarshp of Sound, where he was flown to Berlin to meet Carl Craig, Deadbeat, Ewan Pearson and Adam Marshall to soak up the scene. Strongly influenced by his experience in Berlin, O’ Connor began to let go of some of his drum & bass roots and experiment with more house based grooves. Christening his new project ‘Heavy Goods’, these tracks show O’Connor fuse elements of jungle, techno, house and ambient into dance floor-ready anthems intended to “move your spine while maintaining a soulful edge”.
