In a programme devised especially for the Art Fund, the national fundraising charity for art, acclaimed London chamber choir Londinium, conducted by Andrew Griffiths, presents Scenes from Nature. Inspired by landscape paintings which the Art Fund has saved for the nation, this delightful evening brings together music from England, France and Germany celebrating the beauty of the natural world. Lyrical works by the English pastoral composers Vaughan Williams, Finzi, Howells and Moeran, often conjuring the spirit of an idealised Elizabethan age, contrast with exquisite miniatures by Brahms and Hindemith and the ravishing sound-worlds of Saint-Saëns and Ravel.

Programme:
Herbert Howells – Before Me, Careless Lying, Gerald Finzi - I Praise the Tender Flower, My spirit sang all day, Clear and Gentle Stream, Haste on, my joys (from 'Seven Poems of Robert Bridges'), Herbert Howells - In Youth is Pleasure, Paul Hindemith - Six chansons, Camille Saint-Saëns - Calme des nuits, Maurice Ravel - Trois chansons, Robert Pearsall - Lay a Garland, Johannes Brahms - Fünf Gesänge op. 104, Ralph Vaughan Willams arr Jim Clements - The Vagabond (from 'Songs of Travel'), Ernest Moeran - Phyllida and Corydon, On a hill there grows a flower, Said I that Amaryllis, While she lies sleeping, Corydon arise (from 'Phyllida and Corydon')
