The 6th Sunrise Awards Ceremony with photographer and filmmaker Héctor Mediavilla

ditto is proud to present the prestigious Sunrise Awards. Held in partnership with Norwich University of the Arts, Sunrise showcases the work of this year’s graduates from NUAs film and animation courses, helping them on the road to success. ditto and Sunrise have directly assisted in winners from the last five years gaining fee-paying commissions. Winners of the fiercely contested Best Film, Critics Choice, and Best Awareness Campaign Awards will be announced and new careers will, we hope, begin.

Bringing cosmopolitan flair to the proceedings, we are thrilled to announce that the acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Héctor Mediavilla will not only be an Awards judge but will also share his secrets in how, in times when we are all photographers, you stand out in the global crowd.

A documentary photographer who has exhibited and published internationally, Héctor has a passion for knowing other cultures and their peoples’ stories. Working in the Congo he encountered La Societé des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes and its exquisitely dressed members, the Sapeurs. His wonderfully vivid images of this celebration of style was embraced by Guiness when they commissioned him to shoot their latest big budget TV ad.

As well as kindly helping bestow the Sunrise Awards and enlightening us with his talk, Héctor Mediavilla is treating us to a UK premiere of his internationally famous La Societé des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes (SAPE) Exhibition, to translate, The Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People, otherwise known as Sapeurs. This beautiful, vibrant exhibition of the finest dapper gentlemen the Congo has to offer is absolutely not to be missed.
