SOUTHSIDE HOUSE presents The LIAM DUNACHIE QUARTET

Liam Dunachie - Piano/Compositions Carlos Lopez-Real - Tenor Sax

David Ingamells - Drums Misha Mullov-Abbado - Double Bass

The Liam Dunachie Quartet is a relatively new group in its own right which brings together musicians who have all played with each other in a variety of contexts for some time. Having completed his masters in jazz piano at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2013, Liam is in high demand in London and beyond as an exciting versatile musician whose exploits have led him through a myriad of different musical environments such as trad jazz with the likes of Digby Fairweather and Roy Williams, contemporary big band with the London Jazz Orchestra, theatre work, and working with Gareth Malone on the BBC TV Series “Sing While You Work” and much else besides. This quartet explores Liam’s modern jazz compositions, bringing together an exciting mixture of musical personalities including Carlos Lopez-Real, himself a professor of jazz at the Guildhall school and highly respected jazz musician and educator; Misha Mullov-Abbado, a recent winner of both the Dankworth Jazz Composition Prize and coveted Kenny Wheeler Prize and David Ingamells, also a graduate of the Guildhall and one of the most in-demand and formidable young drummers to emerge onto London’s jazz scene. The music itself seeks to seamlessly integrate both composed music with ample space for improvisation throughout the band, and explores some unusual rhythmic ideas and often complex harmony while ultimately trying to retain a sense of melody and lyricism at its heart.
