Dan Norris has a passion for creating movie posters, deconstructing films and searching for a visual hook; finding ways of recombining key elements or iconic moments that will grab attention and to live in the memory. He strives for simplicity, with a love for the raw emotion that is generated by ink and brush strokes, using ink and pen to start, then finishing the work digitally, so the textures that featured in his work are natural, and it shows. He notes his influences as including Alan Fletcher, Saul Bass, Stephen Gammell, Frank Miller, John Heartfield…for different reasons they all inspire me. I love what Olly Moss has been up too recently – beautifully crafted work with big bold ideas. His work also owes a lot to the bold Polish film posters by artists such as Jan Lenica.
