In the explosively creative jazz years of the fifties and sixties Gene Ammons’ big ‘Texas tenor’ sound made him a natural for Brandon to admire. “Allen is arguably the most exciting tenor player in Britain today” wrote Tony Hall, producer of Tubby Hayes’s first legendary albums, in Jazzwise. Bassist Mick Hutton, who has worked with everybody from Humphrey Lyttelton to John Surman told us “..this is the best band I have ever been in.”
With Ross Stanley (piano), Mick Hutton (double bass), Chris Higginbottom (drums)
