Have you have had a long and troubled relationship with your hamstrings?

If you have spent your fair share of time cursing at your own hamstrings, this may be just the thing for you!

Tight hamstrings are often the cause of incorrect alignment in basic standing and balancing postures in yoga asana. They are often overworked yet need to be used through the full range of motion.

Many of us spend time sitting during the day, which shortens the hamstrings. Some may be very active but find the balance between strength and flexibility difficult to maintain.

Since your muscles operate in pairs, the development of each muscle in this complementary relationship must balance. If one muscle is stronger than the other, it can lead to injury. For many, the muscles in front of their legs, or quads, are more powerful than the hamstrings which makes you vulnerable to injury, such as ligament tears.

When compared to stretching any other muscle group in your body, stretching your hamstrings will likely give you the greatest overall return on your health. If your hamstrings are tight as you go about your daily activities, they’ll create a downward pull on your pelvis, which can lead to dysfunction of your hip, sacroiliac, and lumbar spinal joints

In this workshop you will be given lots of tips and techniques to take home with you and be taught how to open up in a correct safe and effective manner.

elizabeth came to yoga about 15 years ago, having trained as a dancer she felt exhausted by the age of 20 and was looking for a practice to heal the body mind and spirit.

She likes to help individuals to carve their own paths and be able to express and open up their own unique joy within, through asana and practice.
