Made in Tottenham

In recent years, Tottenham has been associated more with the 2011 riots than with inspirational business leaders and dedicated youngsters looking to build a better life for themselves and their community.

That’s all set to change as local businessman Clyde Williams, world-renowned management guru Charles Handy and award-winning photographer Elizabeth Handy, alongside local leaders, set about shining a light on ten entrepreneurs in the Tottenham area. Their aim is to showcase the inspirational work that these young entrepreneurs are doing on a daily basis as they start to put Tottenham on the map as a business hub.

The panel selected “The Tottenham Ten” for their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to developing their own sustainable business and inspiring the local community. To celebrate these local entrepreneurs Charles and Elizabeth have set about telling their story in the hope that their hard work will inspire others. The ten range from a thriving Tottenham restaurant to an educational charity encouraging sports in school and are examples of what can be achieved when you turn your talents or enthusiasms into viable enterprises.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “These individuals clearly have talent, passion and a drive to succeed. Their entrepreneurial spirit is not only creating jobs but also providing inspiration to other young people in the area. I hope others follow in their footsteps and help contribute to Tottenham’s bright future.”
A celebration of Tottenham’s young thriving entrepreneurs will take place on 24th September at The Old Tottenham Town Hall, to showcase the work that they and their businesses are doing to inspire the next generation. An exhibition of “The Tottenham Ten” will be showcased at the Bernie Grant Centre in Tottenham from 25th September to 10th October to encourage others to follow their example.
