London’s favourite backstreet boozer, The Water Poet, celebrates its 10th birthday with a week of festivities revelling in the wonder that is the Great British Pub.

In a shameless haze of self-congratulation, a programme of events focused on taverns, inns, saloons and the precious nectars sold within their hallowed walls will run throughout the Water Poet’s myriad spaces.

There’ll be a free gin tasting, where the will-they/won’t-they story of the blessed union between gin and tonic is unfolded before your eyes (SPOILER ALERT! They will.).

The definitive Most Incredible Pork Pie in London will be chosen in the Pork Pie Off, and if that wasn’t pig enough, The Water Poet’s legendary Spitroast Hog will of course, be spinning in the garden later in the week on Saturday.

The London Historians with Londonist’s Matt will be down to regale tales of the strangest and most mysterious events to happen in London pubs throughout history (including the macabre story of the burning menagerie next door to the Water Poet’s current location!).

The Ultimate boozy pub quiz will be hosted on Thursday- come armed with knowledge of pubs and drinks from fact and fiction, and be prepared for blind tasting rounds (a teammate who can handle their ale is highly recommended!). All proceeds to charity.

The Water Poet’s barn will play host to all their favourite pals, old and new, from the brewing world, as they transform it into an Alehouse with incredible brews to sample at the price they would have been when the pub first opened ten years ago!

Whilst last but no means least, join us on Sunday all afternoon for a huge roast dinner whilst enjoying Mike Myers Spitalfields Crooner singing songs by the greats.
