Now in its fifth year, ReVoice! Festival has established itself as the premier annual jazz vocal event on London’s arts calendar. Founded and directed by Georgia Mancio, a marvellously talented award-winning singer described as “supremely elegant…one of the hottest singers on the circuit” by the Evening Standard, ReVoice! attracts a sublime (and global!) mix of artists, chosen by Georgia herself. From quality to originality, ReVoice! ticks all the boxes and so the 606 was delighted to be asked to be a part of the Festival by hosting its closing night event, featuring Georgia along with fellow singers Sara Colman and Randolph Matthews. Having adopted as their theme “Strangers” – which we gather implies many meaningful glances will be exchanged on the bandstand! - each vocalist will perform their own set with the band as well as singing together in frontline duo and trio formats.
Georgia Mancio has a lovely vocal tone and direct style that lends itself perfectly to her swinging and sophisticated set. It’s a measure of her impressive ability that she won the Brussels International Young Jazz Singers Award, beating 85 contestants from around the world. Since then, she has worked with artists of global stature including Alan Broadbent and Ian Shaw, and opened for jazz legends such as Kenny Barron, Dave Holland and Cedar Walton. She has released four studio albums to date, including her latest “Come Rain or Come Shine” which received four stars from Jazzwise and the Observer, describing it as “…in all respects an accomplished and beguiling set”. The repertoire she performs is an eclectic mix of jazz standards, gentle Latin and infectious Brazilian music. Bristol-Born Singer/Songwriter Sara Colman's brilliant talents have been recognised at the Birmingham Jazz Awards, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Songwriting Competition. For ten years, she performed as part of the group The Passion with Jacqui Dankworth and Liane Carroll, performing on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Lineup. Other recent professional highlights include opening for José James as part of the The Birmingham Symphony Hall’s Jazzlines Vocal Series, and showcasing at the Jazzahead International Jazz Conference In 2012. She has also been commissioned to write and arrange for larger vocal groups, including Black Voices. Jazzwise reviewer Peter Quinn said of Sara’s last CD, ‘Ready’, “If there’s another solo vocal album released by a UK jazz artist this year that supplies a bigger sugar-rush of auditory pleasure, I’ll eat the next Jazzwise covermount CD”. Fast-rising singer and vocal percussionist Randolph Matthews credits Bobby McFerrin, Youssou N’Dour and Seal as artists who have influenced his intriguing mix of styles and sounds. Integrating elements of jazz and soul as well as chants, beatboxing and ethnic rhythms, Randolph has staked out a claim that is contemporary in its approach while retaining its rootsy, soulful feel. His credits include work with Don Blackman, Grace Jones, Shlomo and Seun Kuti, and his talent & creative curiosity has generated enthusiastic interest and support amongst his burgeoning community of fans. Definitely an artist to keep an eye on, we are excited to welcome Randolph to the 606 for his first performance during ReVoice Festival. Providing high class support for the singers featured this evening will be the exceptional trio led by pianist Rob Barron, featuring Larry Bartley-bass and Dave Ohm-drums.

“[Mancio is] a performer of character, conviction, and relaxed virtuosity” The Guardian ****
“[Sara Colman] Great sound, great room, audience in the palm of her hand. An unqualified success” Birmingham Post;
“If you get a chance to see [Randolph Matthews], grab it with both hands. You will come away with a huge grin, inspired & uplifted” BBC London
