Born in Rio de Janeiro, Jandira is a highly talented singer whose voice beautifully conveys the power of popular Brazilian music. Singing professionally since 1997 her search for wider artistic horizons took her to Portugal, where she became the resident vocalist at the Casino do Estoril in Lisbon. At the same time she combined work in Portugal’s various jazz clubs with regular appearances on Portuguese TV. Moving to London in 2007 Jandira quickly became an important part of the UK Latin/Brazilian scene, including regular appearances at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The National Theatre and of course the 606 Club. She performs a wonderful selection of rhythmic, enchanting songs in her native Brazilian Portuguese, accompanied by her terrific Brazilian band that features Carl Hudson on piano, Uruguayan guitarist Guille Hill and the excellent Brazilian rhythm section of Matheus Nova on bass and Marius Rodriguez on drums. One of Europe’s leading exponents of classic Brazilian Music.
