Spike Wells

An icon of the British Jazz scene, Spike is generally recognised as one of the finest modern jazz drummers of his generation. A quiet but imposing figure since the late Sixties, Spike’s tasteful but powerful playing has supported virtually all the major Jazz artists from this country as well as many visiting artists. Although he has never stopped playing, after his ordination as a minister some years ago he became less active on the scene. However, he is now stretching out musically again, and tonight will be a great opportunity to hear this remarkable musician lead his own trio, featuring the excellent Barry Green on piano and Sam Lasserson on bass.
