Continuing our Brahms series, Trinity Orchestra presents an exciting and varied evening of music conducted by Robin O’Neill. We’re delighted to welcome, as soloists, Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay and Timothy Walden, Concertmaster and Principal Cello of the Philharmonia Orchestra.

The double concerto was Brahms’s last orchestral work and was an unprecedented pairing of violin and cello, blending intimacy and grandiosity to create a charming and surprising masterpiece. This is a rare opportunity to hear it performed by two of the world’s outstanding string players.

In complete contrast, the wind and brass sections of Trinity Orchestra will perform Stravinsky’s strikingly original Symphonies of Wind Instruments. Dedicated to the memory of Debussy, it is an edgy and incisive work, full of varied tonal colours.

Completing the concert is the radiant Symphony in D minor by Cesar Franck - a radical fusion of French and German musical traditions, and one of the most significant French works of the late 19th century.

Join us for a pre-concert talk at 7pm through which you can learn more about the evening’s music.
