On Tuesday 4 November 2014, we will be hosting a Frock Exchange event for ladies at "Sway" Central London.

For those of you who don't know - a "Frock Exchange" is where ladies bring along items of clothing and/or accessories such as shoes, handbags and jewellery from their wardrobes which they don't want anymore. They then exchange these for other items brought to the party by another guest. You just buy an admission ticket in advance (£20 donation) and on the night bring a minimum of 3 good quality, clean items that you would be proud to pass on. Think of a giant charity shop - except you get to take home as many items as you want!

Each year in the UK, women wastefully throw away around 900,000 tonnes of clothing and accessories. The majority of these items end up filling landfills with non-biodegradable textiles, which present serious environmental problems. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, young women who would not be able to comprehend such amounts of wasted clothing, face many difficult and complex challenges including poverty and disease. The burden of poverty often falls squarely on these women and girls: we see girl children who are forced to abandon their dreams to look after the sick, dying and their siblings.

On the evening there will also be a raffle where ladies can win prizes such as designer handbags and clothing all whilst networking with amazing women. A fully stocked cash bar is available and the opportunity to browse some stalls selling products.

The event will benefit two fantastic charities - us, The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK (registered charity 1055899) and the Dot Com Children's Foundation (registered charity 1154994) whose work is about enabling children to recognise the importance of positive values and empowering them to make safer choices in life.

Tickets can be purchased by credit/debit card payment over the phone by calling the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK on 020 3077 1231 or 020 3077 1286 or by sending a cheque made payable to "Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK" and sent to 5th Floor, Berkshire House, 168-173 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7AA. For those wishing to purchase tickets at the door on the evening, a donation of £30 will be required. Tickets will be posted out prior to the event.

If any of your family, friends or colleagues are not able to attend the event, they can still make clothing donations (which includes clothing, shoes, bags and accessories) which would be much appreciated.

Please note that clothing should be good quality, spotlessly clean and in tip-top condition with no marks, stains or flaws such as missing buttons or broken zips.
