Trapped in anti-gypsy prejudice and her own community’s entrenched behaviour, Žaneta is determined to live ‘a normal life’ with her unemployed partner David, their daughter and Žaneta ́s teenage sister. Desperate to get a regular job, she battles welfare officers and prospective employers refusing to turn to crime. The first Czech film screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 16 years, it is a complex picture of a strong modern-day heroine facing the daily struggle to survive and better her life against the odds. Part of Made in Prague Festival 2014.
