The famous Yellow Room at Brook Street is the setting for CECIL BEATON AT HOME - TOWN & COUNTRY, a display of key exhibits from the highly acclaimed summer exhibition at Salisbury Museum, selected by the show's curator, Andrew Ginger. Beaton's life will be contrasted through recreations of rooms from Ashcombe and Reddish, his Wiltshire country houses, with his London home at 8 Pelham Place.
The exhibition also marks the launch of CECIL BEATON: PORTRAITS & PROFILES by Hugo Vickers, Beaton's official biographer and literary executor.

Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler presents a series of excellent lectures to accompany the Beaton at Brook Street exhibition further exploring Cecil Beaton’s extraordinary life, his self-created persona, and the creative legacy of his work in fashion, interiors and photography. Tickets are available in limited numbers and early booking recommended.

On 4 December, in The MAN, the MAGAZINE, the CENTURY, author of Beaton in Vogue Josephine Ross will be discussing his outstanding contribution to Vogue magazine through his photography, sketches and commentary. “When I die I want to go to Vogue” Beaton famously remarked.

On 2 December, fashion historian Dr Benjamin Wild examines Beaton’s passion for sartorial elegance in MY FASHIONABLE LIFE, a beautifully illustrated lecture capturing his distinctive style. “For me he is the father of vintage fashion and his creativity continues to influence the catwalk to this day.”

On 26 November, a screening of the BBC documentary arts feature THE BEATON IMAGE (1984) is introduced by Andrew Ginger, curator of CECIL BEATON AT HOME – TOWN & COUNTRY. “This is a rare showing of a revealing film, including interviews with Stephen Tennant and David Cecil amongst other close friends and family.”

On 19 November, in MALICE in WONDERLAND, Hugo Vickers, Beaton’s official biographer and literary executor, talks about his new book Cecil Beaton: Portraits & Profiles. “He was a self creation, and his portraits stunning,” says the author, “he gave people some-thing to dream about. His remarkable story makes for a magic hour.”
Signed copies of the book will be available at £28 each (rrp £30) or £50 for two throughout the exhibition.

Tickets £25 each, including a pre-lecture glass of wine. Contact Colefax Group Press Office on +44 (0)20 7318 6035
