Looking for an evening that’s a wee bit different? Then urine for a treat!...

As part of WaterAid’s World Toilet Day: It’s No Joke Comedy Festival, join us at a public toilet turned trendy venue for a night of number one entertainment.

Hosted by one of Britain's best-loved and most popular personalities Helen Lederer, this won’t be a bog-standard evening and you’ll be wiping away tears of laughter. Helen says “It’s No Joke that one in three people don’t have access to a toilet. While we Brits love a bit of toilet humour, when it comes to talking toilets we get stage fright. Let’s lift the lid on this serious issue. I’ve always wanted the perfect platform for my potty mouth and here it is: dirty gags = clean toilets.’ We couldn’t agree more – so let’s get to the bottom of things, and talk dirty.

Also performing will be exciting new stand-up, member of WitTank sketch group and part-time geography teacher Mark Cooper-Jones, hotly tipped as 'one to watch' (Londonisfunny.com); 'disgustingly talented' (The Guardian) tv and radio regular Tom Craine, one-third of the critically acclaimed sketch group Jigsaw; and winner of Chortle Student Comedian of the Year Award 2010 and Comedy Central's Funniest Student Award 2011 Phil Wang, who is certainly making waves in the comedy world.

Britain is known for its love of toilet humour. But for many millions of people around the world toilets are no laughing matter. A shocking 2.5 billion people – one in three of the world’s population – do not have access to a safe, private toilet. Many have no choice but to face the indignity of going to the toilet in the open, where they are exposed to disease and vulnerable to harassment and even attack. This is a serious issue that can be hard to talk about – so let’s overcome our embarrassment and use comedy to get the nation talking about toilets.

Alongside the comedy festival, WaterAid has encouraged some of Britain’s best-loved comedians to go head-to-head to be awarded the title of ‘Britain’s Best Toilet Joke’. Watch Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Arthur Smith and John Cooper Clarke, amongst others, deliver their wee one-liners and perform toilet tales, and vote for your favourite online at: www.wateraid.org/uk/itsnojoke. Running from 3rd - 18th November, the winning joke will be announced on World Toilet Day, where one of the comedians will be crowned the winner and receive the coveted golden loo seat!
