The band wanted to make a different sound and appeal to a broader audience than a lot of the bands that are currently making music today. The difference being, essentially to have more Motown, country and pop influences rather than the out and out 'Indie' sound. While they have the raw energy of a rock n roll band, The Shantlys sound is a completely new and fresh wall of sound.
