After an absence of a couple of years, Fine Cell Work is delighted to be returning to the 20th Century Theatre on Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill for a one day only sale of its beautiful hand-made home furnishings and accessories. Many local residents had been in touch with the charity to ask it to host this popular event again. It’s a chance to see and appreciate the exceptional needlepoint, embroidery and quilting skills that Fine Cell Work teaches in 24 UK prisons, before buying some lovely gifts for Christmas presents – or even a little self indulgence. Afterall, no one can have too many cushions!

Sweet smelling lavender bags and hand sewn pin cushions make lovely little stocking fillers. There are beautifully stitched wall hangings to accessorise a living room, or decorate a nursery. The theatre is filled with mounds of cushions – contemporary and traditional designs for fashionistas and fusty uncles. Animal, vegetable and minimalism: so many themes to choose from. For cool customers, the ‘Swag’ and ‘Jailbird’ cotton shoppers are witty, useful and sustainable. Prices start at just £10.

In 24 prisons across the UK this social enterprise and remarkable prison charity runs workshops and classes that teach fine needlework and embroidery to the highest standards. The results are an inspiring range of home accessories that include cushions and quilts, wall-hangings, charming decorations and pin cushions, tea cosies and door-stops as well as undertaking private commissions.
