A site-specific theatre event in a transformed photographer's studio complex. Featuring live music in a 20’s Parisian jazz bar, and short, intense performances of Jean Cocteau’s The Sound of Silence, in the intimate space of the crumbling couple’s apartment.

‘Waiting. I know this room. I know the red and green lights which flicker on and off…

… I know the taxis that sound as if they’re going to stop, that slow down and drive on…

…I know the hands of the clock…

…Waiting. For you, making me wait is an art, a Chinese torture.’

2 a.m in a Paris apartment, 1927. A young singer waits for her lover Emile, a fading gigolo, to return home. As the hours tick by she works herself into a frenzy until Emile finally arrives. Desperate not to be ignored the exasperation streams out of her. All that greets her is silence.

The Sound of Silence shows a woman transformed - where need replaces love and obsession replaces desire.

The piece itself will take place in a self-contained apartment at multiple times over the course of the evening. Audiences will be escorted to the performance space in small groups. There is extremely limited capacity for each performance due to the size of the apartment, so book ahead.
