Oli Rockberger is a London-born singer/songwriter and pianist whom we welcome to the club for his debut gig tonight. Since being granted a scholarship to the Berklee School of Music in 1999 he has forged a successful career in New York, where he has become a highly respected pianist, performing with a number of high profile artists including Les McCann, Charlie Hunter, John Mayer and Queen Latifah. To date he has released two studio albums, “Hush Now” (2005) and his most recent effort “Old Habits” (2013) which London Jazz News described as "exquisitely crafted", showcasing Oli's talent and impressive musical pedigree. His ability to fuse different elements of jazz, folk, rock and pop create an eclectic and distinctive sound, and tonight's performance will feature originals interspersed with interesting covers from some of Oli's major musical influences, including Stevie Wonder and James Brown. A great band will be in support tonight with Michael Janisch (bass), Jordan Perlson (drums) and special guests Femi Temowo on guitar and Paul Booth on sax. Oli is only on a short tour of the UK so be sure to catch him here for a guaranteed memorable show.
“Oli can conjure up echoes of – Randy Newman, Todd Rundgren and Peter Gabriel - yet still inhabit a sound world all of his own” Jazzwise
