London Wetland Centre is a great place to come bird watching, but it can be a bit confusing if you’re not sure what you’re looking at! This winter we had some beautiful birds visiting the Centre such as goldeneye, pintail, goosander and a red-breasted merganser, as well as the usual flocks of exotic looking ducks such as teal and shoveler. So if you’d like to know a bit more about the birds you see here why not join us for a spot of bird watching for youngsters?
Our guide, Gary, will start the session in the Headley Discovery Hide, showing you how to use binoculars, offering bird ID tips and clues on how to watch wildlife. You’ll then head out into Wildside with Gary to spot birds in the trees, ponds and shrubs. Keep your eyes peeled, but we’ll lend you binoculars for the session to make it easier to spot things.
