Arab Women Artists Now: Contemporary Art Exhibition at Rich Mix

''Arab Women Artists Now'' is a one-day pilot festival coinciding with International Women’s Day and will be a showcase for exceptionally talented Arab women artists working in the UK.

As part of the ‘’Arab Women Artist Now’’ (AWAN) Festival, a one-day festival celebrating Arab women's artistic excellence, Arts Canteen will be launching a Contemporary Art exhibition at Rich Mix Gallery showcasing works from five Arab women artists.

''It's about time'' brings together and celebrates the work of Malika Squalli, Inas Halabi, Shirine Osseiran and Saadeh George, artists from the Arab world who now live and work in the UK contributing to a multifaceted and multi-sited dialogue on contemporary Arab women’s subjectivities.

The exhibition draws on the artists’ recent work, which spans across a wide range of artistic practices, and touches upon issues of female identity, ethnic origin and politics. It aims to provoke thought and discussion and to generate a renewed perspective on the role of contemporary art in today’s society.

''Arts Canteen is a place for stirring the arts. We curate events, exhibitions and festivals that support emerging artists from the Arab World and their diasporas in bringing their work to new audiences in the UK and beyond.''
