Kicking off their 2015 schedule with special guest Ed Harcourt, Not So Silent Movies is back for another one-of-a-kind showing of a classic silent film at Electric Cinema Portobello.
Taking inspiration from the era, Not So Silent Movie’s screenings are each accompanied by their talented house band – recreating the traditional cinema-goers experience, but with a twist!
Special guest Ed Harcourt joins the house musicians for a fun-filled afternoon of improvisation and anarchy. With the film chosen the night before by founder Philip Sheppard (and his five year old son), there’s no rehearsal, no preparation – even the band don’t know what will happen next! Moving from Brahms to hip-hop, from jazz to Stevie Wonder, the ensemble take their cues from the film – and from Electric Cinema’s audience – resulting in an original, unrepeatable experience.
