The Czech Centre and Divus London present Spiritual Death in Venice, an award-winning theatre play by the Czech avant-garde playwright and visual artist S.d.CH.
Spiritual Death in Venice, dubbed a puppet mortality as an allegory on the extinction of masculinity, gained S.d.Ch. his second Alfréd Radok Award for best original play. An extravagant Venetian Baronet fights boredom and contempt of the morbid urbanism and bourgeois constraints of his native city through various excesses assisted by his lackey Lubomír. He finally opts to experience a spiritual death…This highly imaginative playful drama filled with linguistic virtuosity, ironic humour and cruelly accurate deconstructions of cultural hypocrisies and social limits was originally designed for a puppet theatre. It will be presented in London for the first time in English as a theatre play for four actors accompanied by live animations and music.
