Father's Day Cookery Class

Billingsgate Seafood School is hosting two very special classes on Sunday 28th June dedicated to father’s (or uncle’s and godfathers and stepdads) spending the day cooking with their kids.

Dad’s Sushi Brunch:
Located at the renowned Billingsgate Market, Dad’s Sushi Brunch will teach dad’s along with their child the secrets behind Japanese cooking and the art of sushi making. Founder and Executive Chef at Feng Sushi, Silla Bjerrum will be joining the team at Billingsgate to pass on her knowledge. Father’s and kids will team up for a fun filled practical session in which they will learn how to roll and cut a selection of delicious sushi, including Californian Rolls and Salmon Nori Maki, as well as learning tips from Silla on how to cook sushi rice perfectly at home. Once guests have finished they can either pack their sushi to take home and enjoy or have it for lunch with a cold beer and soft drink for the under 18’s.

Seafood Platter:
If sushi isn’t your thing, but you would still like a great day out cooking and bonding, then the Seafood Platter class might be more up your street. Headed up by CJ Jackson, the CEO of the Seafood School, the class will focus on the techniques needed to make an impressive platter. Guests will learn all about the different types of seafood and even have the chance to dress a Crab for the centre piece. Teams will then make some delicious food together, including Prawn with Samphire and Squid with Chorizo. You will also learn how to smoke Scallops, all before you enjoy it either for lunch, or pack it up to take home and enjoy with the rest of the family.

The dad’s and kids classes make an excellent gift for Father’s Day and with the classes only taking place a week after the main day, it is ideal if you are stuck on ideas on what to get dad this year.
