Two virtuoso musicians in a violin and piano recital including Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata and Jeno Hubay's Fantaisie brillante on themes from Carmen.

Charlie Siem is one of the brightest young stars in classical music. Charlie began to play the violin at the age of three after hearing a broadcast of Yehudi Menuhin playing Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Charlie read music at Girton College, Cambridge from 2006 to 2009. In 1998 he furthered his violin studies with Itzhak Rashkovsky and from 2004 with Shlomo Mintz.

After wowing the Proms at St Jude's audience with his performance of Sibelius's Violin Concerto in 2013, Charlie returns with a programme to include Beethoven Kreutzer Sonata and Jeno Hubay Fantaisie brillante on themes from Carmen. Charlie has appeared with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and worked alongside artists such as Bryan Adams, Jamie Cullum and The Who.

He has also revived the tradition of violin virtuosos of composing variations on popular themes. He plays the 1735 Guarneri del Gesù violin, known as the 'D'Egville'.

'Charlie Siem, allowing his tone to soar in a great arch, creates a memorable high-point' Gramophone.

Caroline Jaya-Ratnam is in demand as both a soloist and accompanist. She began her musical career at the age of three and was a frequent winner in local music festivals. She read music at Cambridge University, holding an Instrumental Award and a Choral Exhibition and playing the violin in the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra (CUCO). She completed her Masters Degree and Performance Diploma in solo piano and was later appointed the Geoffrey Parsons Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music.

Caroline is known to concertgoers through performances at such venues as the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Hall, she has a wider audience through her TV work, accompanying opera singers Rolando Villazón, Danielle de Niese and Bryn Terfel and on ITV's Popstar to Operastar playing for Katherine Jenkins and Villazon.
