Join us for this conversation with broadcaster, actress, writer and television producer Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE, who will share her fascinating life journey from her very early years in Trinidad to her appointment as a life peer.

Floella Benjamin became a household name as a children’s television presenter and is devoted to improving the education and wellbeing of young people throughout the world. She is renowned for her tireless work for many children’s charities and her affectionate and enthusiastic graduation ceremonies as Chancellor of University of Exeter. An independent producer of award-winning television programmes and author of over 30 books, Floella has overcome adversity throughout her life and actively campaigns to address the issues of diversity, equality and fair representation in the workplace, in books and on television. Her varied accomplishments and recognitions over four decades in the public eye include running 10 London marathons for Barnardo’s, receiving a BAFTA lifetime achievement award, and being awarded an OBE for her services to broadcasting and charity. The achievement that gives her “the biggest smile of all” was being made a life peer in 2010 and being introduced to the House of Lords as Baroness Benjamin of Beckenham in Kent.

This promises to be an inspirational evening with Floella Benjamin, who’ll discuss her vibrant career and consider how geography has influenced and shaped her thoughts on the world.
