Taxidermy Exhibition Opening Party & Negroni Night

Friday 5th June, 6-11pm
Free Entry / Food & drink available for purchase
Exhibition runs 5th-28th June

Tottenham based ethical Taxidermists Sarah of the Curious Menagerie and Sammy of Mole & Dove share their love of animals, their studio space and their obsession with all things taxidermy. As our Mill Co Project neighbours, we have invited them to exhibit their work in our cafe.

We will have an opening party on 5th June, with the bar also open for craft beer, cocktails, wine and food.

The night also coincides with Negroni week (one of our favourites!), so we will be running a special Negroni cocktail list including the classic Barrel Aged, White Negroni, Sbagliato & Boulevardier. 50p from each Negroni sold will go to Action for Kids, a local charity that support disabled children and young people.

Come along and enjoy these old school practices in a modern fashion!

About the artists:

From extravagant headdresses by Mole & Dove to insightful lessons by the Curious menagerie, no animal is too great or small. Their works also include traditional mounts and commissions with a wide range of animals and quirky taxidermy art pieces.

The Curious menagerie was established in 2012 by taxidermist Sarah with the idea of offering a wide range of taxidermy lessons to guide those intrigued by the subject through specially designed courses in this centuries old craft.

Aside from teaching Sarah also creates her own work using ethically sourced animals from all over the U.K. She uses traditional taxidermy techniques and works primarily in a naturalistic style, often with a quirky twist!

Mole and Dove was founded in 2013 by taxidermist Sammy after a career in luxury fashion and practicing taxidermy since her childhood. As well as more traditional taxidermy she creates colorful bespoke headdresses, cute mice, bunnies and birds all in a range of beautiful vintage crockery. She also has been a teacher for The Curious menagerie since it first started.

Both taxidermists are dedicated members of the UK Guild of Taxidermists. All the animals they use in their work and lessons have been donated or purchased legally after a natural or unavoidable death, have been hunted for sustenance or are non-native nuisance mammal or bird species.
