Part sculpture, part architectural installation, the Brutalist Playground is a new commission by Turner Prize shortlisted design and architecture collective Assemble and artist Simon Terrill.
Occupying the entire Architecture Gallery at RIBA this free exhibition explores post-war design for play through an exploration of the original playgrounds in Brutalist housing estates. It offers a renewed understanding of the architects’ original designs and intentions and raises questions about materiality and risk in play today.
