cueB gallery is proud to present for the first time in London the work of Guillermo Aguilar-Huerta.

Born in Monterrey Mexico, Guillermo has taken all the Mexican traditions, colours and patterns with him to Berlin where he now lives and works since 2007.

“We are made of Stars” is part of a larger project called the Universal Series that Guillermo Aguilar - Huerta  has been working on and developing since 2012.
In this series he makes site-specific installations recreating galaxies of our universe with geometric shapes made of plastic and cardboard. These installations have been shown with success in different country including Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Mexico and can soon be seen at cueB gallery in London.

He places his work into the discourse that exists between fashion, industrial design and concrete forms. In his artwork, geometrical abstractions dominate with a variety of exotic colour combinations, which are derived from universal and traditional Mexican patterns.
Guillermo uses geometry as an endless way to create unique shapes that describe different cultures. Furthermore, he ascribe a major importance to architecture, technological advancement to capture how all these combinations of factors influence our modern society.

Huerta’s compositions are clearly determined by the mixture of both, reflecting his viewpoint about life in all its diversity and dynamism.

He works with materials that already had a life such as cardboard, wood and plastic in particular.
Because it takes around 500 years in nature to complete degrade, he uses plastic into paintings and installations breathing new life into it giving new purpose, new meaning and creating artworks that could last for generations.
