Erskine, Hall & Coe is pleased to host Koji Hatakeyama's first solo show in London. The exhibition will consist of thirty-seven cast-bronze lidded boxes, and will be open from the 10th of June through the 3rd of July 2015.
Koji Hatakeyama comes from Takaoka of the Toyama Prefecture of Japan, an area that is renowned for the ancient art of metal casting. Hatakeyama's boxes feature surface patinations which represent elements of Japanese landscape, and reveal gold, silver or platinum interiors. His work has been acquired by many international public collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the National Museum of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Our exhibition is illustrated in a catalogue and on our website, and it will be viewable from Monday through Saturday, 10:00am - 6:00pm and free to attend.
