Mexico’s iconic legends and masked superheroes will gather in the UK to perform in “The Greatest Spectacle of Lucha Libre”, an electrifying three-day extravaganza at London’s York Hall in Bethnal Green from 9th – 11th July 2015.

Starring the finest Mexican fighters, Bolivia's famous Fighting Cholitas and the UK’s own Lucha Britannia, the weekend will also feature wild Cabaret acts, authentic Mexican street-food and Agave cocktails. On the 8th July, two films about Lucha Libre will premiere at a dedicated film screening and Art exhibition.

Over the three days, London’s famous York Hall will be transformed into a retro-style Mexican Arena, transporting the audience to a time when legendary stars such as El Santo, Mil Mascaras, Cavernario Galindo, Black Shadow and Gory Guerrero starred in epic live confrontations of Good vs. Evil. Each day will feature different shows, including matinees for family audiences, a massive Grand Finale, and more raucous Friday night cabaret spectacular for a strictly adult audience.

Throughout the events spectators can enjoy performances from London's cabaret scene, as well as colourful carnival dancers and ring girls. For the peckish, delicious and authentic Mexican street-food will accompany feisty agave cocktails, tequila shots, and a special edition Lucha Libre beer.

The spectacles will be headlined by Mexico’s greatest luchador, the silver masked, El Hijo del Santo (The Son of The Saint) along with a stellar line-up of luchadores who have graced Mexico’s finest rings and international wrestling leagues. The shows also present for the very first time in Europe “The Fighting Cholitas of Bolivia”, and the UK’s own Lucha Libre stars, the high-flying heroes of ‘Lucha Britannia’.

Lucha Libre, which translates as “free fighting”, is a Mexican style of wrestling where fighters enter the ring in flamboyant capes and outlandish suits, wear mythical and colourful masks, perform acrobatic moves and fly from spectacular heights. Traditionally divided into Rudos, who use underhanded tactics and break the rules, and Técnicos, who play by the rule book and use more complex and spectacular moves, each Luchadore has his own distinct character.

As a preview to the 3-day spectacle, a special screening will take place at the nearby Oval Space in Bethnal Green. The event will be a premiere of two Lucha Libre documentaries. The first film, "El Hombre detrás de la máscara" will be followed by a Q&A session with El Hijo del Santo & Gabriela Obregón (Producer), and the second film, "The Fighting Cholitas" will be followed by a Q&A with The Cholitas plus a conversation with 'The Queen of the Ring' Cassandro El Exótico.
