Annin Arts present artist Parker Ito who will exhibit publicly in London for the first time. Ito's work will be displayed on a billboard at London Bridge from the 27th of July through to the 9th of August 2015. Ito creates paintings, sculptures and video works that draw upon his extensive experience as a 24/7 web surfer. In using materials not typically associated with art production (highly reflective 3M Scotch-lite fabric, automotive two tone paint and a top layer of vinyl over some paintings) he makes works that have varying appearances both when viewed in person and when photographed.

He has described some of his works as stand-ins for paintings claiming that the real artwork is the iPhone picture posted by someone else. Ito's practice is one of high activity and high volume. "I heard that Picasso made around 250,000 works in his lifetime. I could make that many jpegs in 5 years. And when I say 5 years, I mean 5 minutes." Ito goes on to explain "I'm interested in making work that mimics the mechanism of the Internet.... I'm trying to make something so complicated it can't be understood, so total that you can never zoom all the way out."

Born in 1986, Parker Ito earned a BFA from California College of the Arts in 2010. He has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2013), IMO Projects, Copenhagen (2013), Stadium, New York (2012), and a two-person exhibition with Brad Troemel at Tomorrow Gallery, Toronto (2012). He also had solo shows last year at Chateau Shatto, Los Angelos, White Cube, London and was part of a group exhibition at the ICA titled 'Beware Wet Paint' alongside Jeff Elrod, David Ostrowski, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Isabelle Cornaro and Ned Vena amongst others. He lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
