A “musician’s musician” Alex has enjoyed a varied musical career as both a pro jazz artist and an in-demand session and studio saxophonist. His powerful, flowing, hard bop sax style has been heard with some of Europe's leading bands and creative jazz ensembles, and it is testament to his reputation that Alex is also one of the few headlining UK jazz musicians in the current Ronnie Scott’s All Stars pool. He is the sideman of choice for many of the finest visiting artists and has himself performed in over 30 countries worldwide with artists such as Sir John Dankworth, Wynton Marsalis, Peter King, Humphrey Lyttelton, Van Morrison and Jools Holland. His most recent album, "Andromeda" released on the greatly respected Whirlwind Recordings label was launched earlier this year at the Club to considerable acclaim. Tonight, Alex is bringing his organ-based quartet (hence the name...) to the Club, aiming to bring the hard grooving swing tradition of days gone by into a more contemporary 21st century setting. The gig features the terrific and constantly in-demand Ross Stanley on organ, alongside up-and-coming young guitarist Artie Zeitz (last heard here with Alan Darby's Guitars Deluxe) and UK jazz scene stalwart Matt Home on drums. Brilliant, swinging jazz from masters of the genre.
